Genome Club Inauguration

The Genome Club of The Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development, Imphal was formally inaugurated by Prof. I. S. Khaidem, former Vice-Chancellor, Manipur University at a function attended by many scientists and distinguished invitees from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Manipur University, Central Agricultural University, colleges and other institutions. The genome club with the vision of “genetic literacy for all” will have its focus on recent technological developments in the field of biotechnology application on Bioresources utilization and its impact on human welfare. This friendly forum will bring together all interested persons to know/ share/ debate about the biotechnological research and developments. Genome club meetings features, at present, invited lectures, training, awareness programs, seminars, etc. in the Institute.

I B S D PhD - JRF PROGRAMME 2010 RESULTS

Short term (3- months) Practical Training Programme of IBSD


Introduction:

The Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development, (An autonomous Institute of the Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India) Imphal, Manipur has been established to carryout basic and applied research on sustainable development and utilization of bioresources of the North-eastern region for their socio-economic upliftment.

At present the institute undertakes research and development activities on plant, microbes, fish, insect bioresources and bioresources database development of the NE region. In order to exploit the bioresources of the region, institute needs to train new researchers through human resources development programme of IBSD, Imphal. This training programme will be helpful to motivate and encourage them in scientific research & developmental activities for sustainable development and utilization of the bioresources of the region.

About Training:

  1. Training will be offered as a short term (3 months) Practical Training Programme on sustainable development and utilization of bioresources under the area of specialization of the supervisor.

  2. A limited number of trainees shall be allowed to access the research facilities of IBSD under the supervision of the institute's scientists.

  3. The Practical Training Programme will be maximum of 3 months and minimum of 2 months.
